We taste food with our eyes. If something looks good we want to eat it. Look at these two pictures: which one looks more appetising?
The first one is a photo of a display in Wholefoods - a supermarket in USA. These vegetables are bright and colourful. Looking at the peppers and carrots stacked on the shelves makes you think of crunchy sweetness.
Now look at the next one.....
This is a cake, which most people would expect to be more appealing. It's a carrot cake, but the lurid green and blue icing is so unnatural. The cake may taste good but the over bright coloured frosting doesn't make it appetizing.
