Cooking is more fun if you do it for someone else. The best cooks like to go out and eat. Parents would love it if you could make dinner.
Lookit Cookit
tells you how to plan and make a meal for four in less than half an hour.
Pear and watercress salad with blue cheese.
This is the starter.
You might expect to find something like this in a restaurant.
It looks good because you can clearly see everything that's in it: the green leaves and the pale pieces of pear and cubes of soft cheese.
You might not have thought of having pear at the beginning of a meal but it's brilliant.
Pasta wheels with fresh tomato sauce
This is the main course.
It takes about ten minutes to make the sauce.
You need summer tomatoes, a little oil and garlic and it's done.
Pasta comes in all shapes and sizes. Some people say there are 600 shapes. There are certainly dozens of different ones. These are wheels, but you could choose long spaghetti.
The dessert
The easiest is a plate of fruit.
These raspberries are a great idea in summer.
They sometimes need a little sugar and they go well with yogurt or cream.
These are some winter fruits: pineapple, mango, orange, kiwi and grapes.
To cut the mango you make lines with a knife and then more lines across to make squares. Then push the mango gently from the skin side and it pops up.
If you want to make a dessert, there are about six different sweet things to choose from in the book.
