This is a picture of some gingerbread houses.
It's not easy to do the icing for the doors and windows. It needs a very steady hand. But when they're finished they will last for weeks. Some icing lasts for years. There is a museum in France where they have sugar creations made by a famous chef called Escoffier and they have been there for about 90 years.

The one on the left is wrapped in white chocolate.
The one on the right is made from dozens of macarons.They are round flat meringues filled with butter cream.
These are probably wedding cakes - certainly they are as tall as 100 plates piled on top of each other.
How would you begin to cut them? Would you start at the top or the bottom?
Here's something much easier
They are quick to make.
The mixture is very simple.You can make it in a bowl - you don't need an electric mixer.
They take about twenty minutes to cook in the oven.
When they are cold, you pop them out of the cases.
Then leave them to cool.
Try not to eat them yet. You need to do the icing.
Here are the finished cup cakes.
The browner ones are covered with golden icing sugar, the rest with ordinary white icing.
