You can make pancakes. There are two kinds - sweet or savoury.
Potato pancakes - also called Latkes
The mixture can be made with a food processor. The frying is a bit
tricky - because of the hot oil they need some care, so you might need
a little help.
To turn them over you want something called a palette knife - this is a long bendy knife that you slide underneath to stop the food sticking.
Here are the finished pancakes. They are hot and crispy. You'll want to eat two or three each.
They are even better than chips or french fries.
They go well with sausages - or for something different, with apple sauce and sour cream.
Blueberry pancakes
Now for something sweet. The mixture is quick and easy. All you need is a bowl and a spoon.
These are cooked on a griddle - a frying pan is just as good.
You might need a bit of help turning these over. You need something with a long handle - like the palette knife or a long, flat spoon.
Here they are cooked. Although the berries are inside it's good to put some more on top.
And, of course butter and maple syrup.
If you don't have maple syrup, golden syrup is fine.
Wonderful, warming lamb and barley
You start by sizzling the meat and the vegetables.
Then you add some beef stock and a handful of barley.
All easy so far.
You leave it to cook for about an hour and it turns into a brilliant winter stew.
It's called a casserole, after the dish it's cooked in.
If you add some more stock or water, it turns into soup.
